Amy Ordoveza paints precise, detailed still-lifes in oil and gouache. Her paintings depict delicate cut-paper objects and tableaus that evoke significant places from her memories. As she slowly builds up the paint in layers, she preserves fleeting daylight, a fragile object, and fading memory in a frozen moment. She is interested in exploring themes of home, migration, and impermanence. After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in painting, Ms. Ordoveza went on to earn an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art and an MAT in art education from George Mason University. She has exhibited her paintings and drawings internationally and taught art in the United States and Canada.
