About the exhibition:

In a new body of work titled The Forest, Lucas Bononi invites a dialogue between human and nature. Paint slams the surface, creating a marbling effect of flesh and natural elements. Earth’s features emerge through figuration and abstraction, forcing a return to our core essence. A gentle river, or perhaps a teasing flame, intertwines with the subject, unveiling a crucial dimension of the human condition.

Lucas Bononi (b. 1991, Los Angeles) is a contemporary painter living and working in New York, NY. His paintings reflect nature through the lens of the modern world. With nuance, color and light, Bononi investigates monotonous city life while expressing nature’s unrepeatable beauty. His work asks us to simultaneously question relationships between figuration and abstraction, beauty and chaos.
