Jon Legere is a Bermudian mixed media artist who works with video, paint, collage, photography, performance and sculpture. His collaborative video installation “TURNS” with mentor Margot Lovejoy was part of the 2002 Whitney Biennial in New York City. Since then, he has shown in numerous galleries, and German publisher Gestalten featured his painted collages in the 2013 book “The Age Of Collage."
Legere's work engages with autobiography of island life and city urbanism. Employing diverse aesthetic strategies and mediums -- including sculpture, drawing, collage, painting, and video -- he examines the tension between calm and chaos, found and manipulated.
Throughout his residency, Legere will have a table station dedicated to remixing and reassembling broken or forgotten objects. Visitors are encouraged to bring any object they would like to see transformed by the artist!
Stay tuned for events hosted by Legere to celebrate his residency throughout the month!
