This week we're catching up with Guno Park, an artist whose drawings of New York subway riders were featured as part of our collection at last weekend's Affordable Art Fair.
LIVES & WORKS IN Brooklyn, NY
OCCUPATION Artist, Teacher and Video Maker
ON THE CLOCK Everyday is different. But my favorite days, I wake up, eat breakfast, walk Noki (our dog) then go to the studio to draw. Then I head into the city to edit or shoot videos for the New York Academy of Art. They have some amazing people that come and give lectures there. Other than that, I'm always looking for time to hang out with my girlfriend, Lan.
YOUR ART WEEKEND I usually go to openings when there's someone that I love showing. Other than that, I like to see shows when there's less people around. I love going to the MET, the Neue Gallery, Morgan Library, The Frick, and many other galleries and museums that show drawings, paintings and sculptures. And I really enjoy visiting friends at their studios around Brooklyn and Manhattan. On a weekly basis though, I attend the Drink 'n Draw event at the Bat Haus in Bushwick for some life drawing and beer. I also like to go to the Society of Illustrators and Spring Studio for their open drawing sessions.
