LIVES IN / New York, NY
WORKS IN / New York, NY
OCCUPATION / Program Coordinator, Affiliate Programs, The Museum of Modern Art
ON THE CLOCK / See if I’m feeling ambitious enough for a morning spin class or squash game, head to the office, rush off for a work or UVa event or head out to grab dinner. The days fly by.
YOUR ART WEEKEND / My art weekend starts on Monday! I work with two of our patron groups here at MoMA, The Junior Associates and The Contemporary Arts Council, and we host roughly one event per group each week. We go into homes of some of the most amazing art collections around the city, meet with artists at galleries and in their studios, organize curatorial walk-throughs for our major exhibitions, participate in art fairs, and host day trips each season. Last weekend, the JAs visited Mana Contemporary in Jersey City and this Saturday I’ll be taking the CAC to Kykuit: The Rockefeller Estate where we are also having lunch at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Apart from that, I’ve also been helping organize events for our UVa alumni arts group, STUDIO, where we’ve put together recent museum and gallery visits as well as an outing to Storm King Art Center. I’ve enjoyed tuning in to Sugarlift’s guide and love the idea of pairing art with a bite/drink afterwards.
ALBUM / The “Rum and Coca-Cola” radio station on Pandora.
FILM / My friends always make fun of me but I’m a huge fan of the “rom-dram”. That, and Father of The Bride.
ARTIST / Cezanne, Degas, Monet, Matisse... I’ll always have an affinity for the Impressionists. I also love some of the Old Masters; my first class in college was “Dutch Art of the Golden Age” and after that I knew I would pursue a degree in Art History. Listening to my professor lecture about Vermeer and Goya almost felt as if I was at a museum. Now working at MoMA, I’m exposed to some of the most exceptional modern and contemporary art. People always ask two things when I tell them where I work -- the first is if our offices are located in the Museum and the second is if I pinch myself every morning when I’m walking in -- the answer is yes.
BOOK / I just finished Boys in the Boat -- what a story. Some recent favorites include Three White Dresses and The Interestings.
EATS / Posto pizza, anything Italian, sushi. Whenever I’m coming home late from an event, you’ll find me cooking Annie’s mac & cheese shells (white cheddar) and Brussels sprouts. It’s a no-brainer after a long day.
LATEST PURCHASE / I just bought a new, oversized sweater while I was in Charleston the other week. Do I really need another sweater?!
GUILTY PLEASURE / A good meal out.
GRADE IN ART CLASS / I haven’t taken an art class since elementary school but I did a lot of “Afternoon Art” back in the day. I loved working with acrylic paint and making mixed media collages. Wouldn’t it be great to retire early and become a painter?
36 HOURS / Escape to my parents’ place up at The Cape, even if it’s the fall or winter. Go to the beach and collect shells that will just pile up in my room. Have lobster at the house. Play tennis with my dad. Walk the breakwall. Wish that I had more than 36 hours there.
SUGARLIFT PICK / So far I'm really liking Joe Hollier's work. His patterns and color really brighten up a room!
