LIVES IN / Union Square

WORKS IN / Washington Square & Chelsea

OCCUPATION / MA candidate in Museum Studies, Graduate School of Arts and Science, NYU

ON THE CLOCK / I’m getting used to life as a full-time student (until recently I managed art fairs for Sanford Smith + Associates). I’m training for a half-marathon, so after coffee I drag myself for a run along the East River. Then, depending on the day, I head out to a class, museum, gallery, archive, or artist’s studio. As a grad student, I get to look at art through an academic lens, thinking about the way it’s presented, and the organizational and economic structures of its institutions. In the evening, I am hanging out at openings, talks, and events to support friends/colleagues and see what’s new in the art world. You can always find me at Young Folk parties. These days, I’m usually reading late into the night…

YOUR ART WEEKEND / My ultimate art-trip was to last year’s Venice Biennale, curated by one of my favorites, Massimiliano Gioni. I experienced buildings all over the city filled with contemporary art from around the globe. Overload, in a good way.

ALBUM / A year later, I’m still obsessed with Daft Punk's Random Access Memories.

FILM / Kill Bill Vols. 1 & 2, Only Lovers Left Alive

ARTIST / SWOON and her studio, and the network of artists and makers she works with -- especially KT Tierney, who is doing amazing things at Braddock Tiles and Konbit Shelter.

BOOK / Hermann Hesse’s Knulp

EATS / Lupe’s, Omar’s

LATEST PURCHASE / This weekend at the New York Art Book Fair I bought a zine by Nina Hartmann and pre-ordered a Massif Central art scarf to add to my collection which currently consists of this one by Jonas Wood.

GUILTY PLEASURE / Not telling.

GRADE IN ART CLASS / Art class saved my life. I was a sculpture major in college.

36 HOURS / My boyfriend Julian and I had a perfect west coast weekend this summer. In Los Angeles, we got an airbnb with friends in Venice Beach and visited Calder and Abstraction: From Avant-Garde to Iconic and other great exhibitions at LACMA. Then we drove up the PCH to Big Sur. We hiked through redwood forest, browsed the Henry Miller Memorial Library (actually, Julian stayed in the car for that one), had delicious meals at local spots, and camped by a fire under the trees and stars. Next time, we will definitely strip down for some hot spring action, too.
